Description

Damage calculated to be about double to what it should have been.

Attack modifier is supposed to be 300% and follow this diagram taken directly from RMS:
Effect: An area attack with an ATK of (100+20*SkillLV)%. Can only be used while mounted and wielding a Spear class weapon. During the Cast Time, character DEF is reduced to 2/3. The affected area varies with level as follows:
L1-3: Area 1
L4-6: Area 1+2
L7-9: Area 1+2+3
L10: Area 1+2+3+4.
The following diagram shows the areas:

**My test is showing that Brandish Spear is dealing out a 550-600% attack modifier.

Please have a look at the modifier and adjust from 550-600% back down to 300% thanks. Damage spikes at levels 4 , 7 and 10 by 100% each time.**

One in 2009 and in 2011. No one ever complained of the skill for doing too much damage then. however, I will argue that this is only a "problem" now is because of the weapon Bellum Spear. Before making any changes, you must perceive the consequences that will follow such as making LKs an obsolete class that cannot kill anything before it kills them. Classes such as Champs(asura before LK can take them out), sinx, snipers(50k x2 DS damage), clown/gypsy(flee tarot), creators(somewhat tanky and extremely spammable AD with kiel). Also killing paladins 1v1 in PvP duels will be impossible due to reflect shield and Shield Chain doing 15k x5 per hit which equals to 75k per chain.

If you want to preview the damage of brandish spear if it is lowered to 300%, just look at magnum break damage. Magnum break does 300% damage at lvl 10.

9.2k on a decently geared prof. Does it do any justice to this server, when just about every class can dish out an average of 300k damage per second?

Also here's the difference between a pike with incan, gmc, gmc and daehyon vs a bellum spear:

26k damage with the Pike on a target without any shield on, and 34k with bellum spear on the same target.

That is the 550-600% you speak of. Maybe it was raised to that a long time ago in order for LKs to compete with the classes I mentioned?

Brandish spear was never bugged. The description is bugged. There is a script that increases the damage based on the skill level which is not stated on the description. If you can read the script in the link above, the damage actually makes sense. And there is no way that they typo'd that long script. Probably even BDO knows about this since he has been part of the eAthena development team.

I honestly do not see the point in nerfing this skill at all. I'm even a little bit iffy about what Worst Behavior said about looking in to the Bellum weapon itself. What you are testing are 1v1 scenarios. You are not accounting what happens when people start using tank gears, fighting a pally with Auto Guard, or when used during WoE against guilds (who are mostly range classes and supports). I don't think you guys understand that there's maybe only 10 people who religiously play this class, neither am I saying that just because there's a few people that play this class, that you shouldn't be paying attention to it. This class is severely at a disadvantage outside of spawn camping during WoE. You get critlocked almost every time you push to try and do something. Now you want to nerf the skill that is the current meta for the class. Maybe you're trying to get people to use BB more, well, it's broken, it only hits once most of the time. Not to mention the HP drop off of the BB LKs because they'd have to use Kiel instead of GEC. If you put it to 300%, the damage LKs would put out during WoE will literally be garbage, because let's be honest, with a game that's dying, the only action people ever get nowadays is during WoE (which has reduced damage). What you are doing isn't setting something right. What you are doing is killing a class that has been revived after such a long time. I suggest you try WoEing on an LK first before you actually do anything. What you are seeing in your tests are minimal usage of the skill and a script for it.

Seems like I can't edit my post, so here's a new post. Also, this is James (in game LK). I can't log in to my main account for whatever the fuck reason so I have to use my alt's account to post. If you really want to nerf a class, please do research on the K/D ratios of all of these "OP LKs" get during WoE. There's WoEBR for a reason. You'll see most of the time that most of the LKs that WoE barely cross 50 kills.

The lot of them has a KDR of less than 1.0 and LKs are overpowered? You don't need to generalize a class based on a couple of people who stand out when playing them. Doing that just gives the wrong impression towards your audience when the class itself is already difficult to play as it is.
